| Note | According to Cladyne Cottrell Barrett, "At one time, early in their marriage, Opal and Clay (Cottrell) lived with Emmett, Addie and family. Pete made close friends with Mom..and asked her over and over, supposedly in jest, if she would divorce Clay and marry him. Fifty years or so later, after the folks finally got a 'phone, it rang one day and when mom answered, the voice on the other end said "Opal, isn't he ever going to die?" " On September 27, 2002, Cladyne Cottrell Barrett reported by email: "Pete never married. rolled his own cigarettes all the days of his life and was so frugal, that he had a drawer in a tall dresser that he rolled his cigarettes over so that he could catch the droppings and use them. He was very fussy about his things and when he and bill was young, Mom [Opal Robertson Cottrell] said that to keep Bill from going courting in Pete's one good pair of dress shoes, that Pete hid one of them, wrapped in newspaper, in his mother's flour bin. Mom had lots of tales about that part of the family ...I, too, lived with them in the early part of my marriage to Barrett. good folks." | |

| Note | Little is known about Pat Harding Harris. He had a crush on one of his Barrett cousins for a time. He was married, perhaps twice, perhaps more. Online records show four children born in Wichita County. He briefly owned his grandparents' Iowa Park home after his grandmother's death in 1974. He was in Iowa Park at the time of the death of his sister Billie Harris Warner in October 1983. He may or may not have lived in Wichita Falls for a time. But the last most recent report of Pat was written by his Aunt Lucille in the late 1980s or early 1990s: "I have only the one nephew and I have no idea where he is." |
