Louisa Baker Cottrell Pension Application, 1897



Six years after the death of her husband George Washington Cottrell, Louisa Baker Cottrell also filed for a pension based on George's Mexican War service. Like that of her husband, her application fell on deaf ears: insufficient records could be found to substantiate George's memory of the units he had served in and the battles where he had fought.
